I found a used hot tub in the paper and am going to look at it tomorrow. Since Im a college student, $400 sounded great to me! What should i look for and what kinds of expenses should i expect? Thanks for the feedback!

Don't buy it unless it is filled with water and they can demonstrate that it works. Then you can check for leaks and also see that it does in fact work.

Ask when the seal between the pipes and the tub have been changed last. The chemicals and water dry them out and they leak. They have to be changed every so often. Also hot tub companies come and go all the time so make sure you call and make sure you can get new parts and seals for them.

mrs. ladd is right about those question to ask. Also remember your also purchasing their bacteria they left in the pipes and water circulation in the tub so, when starting it up you may want to really clean it out good.
Get a written contract and ask if they'll sign something as to the condition of the tub just in case something is wrong and you'll be able to recover your money.

If there are any leaks, any repairs, how much it cost them to heat it. A relative got rid of hers because it cost over $60 a month for the electricity.
