Newly built barn conversion, builder took and removed original slates and has replaced with others (possibly spanish?). Over 5 yrs, condition of roof greatly deteriorated. Many slates cracking, pieces shearing off and falling away. In other places whole slates have fallen. The slates are extremely thin and brittle. Original builder continues to patch things, but we need a comprehensive assessment and report on the quality and longevity of the roof. Who could do this? How do we find a reputable and qualified person or company to provide us with the information we need to move this forward, if necessary into the court system? Getting extremely worried we will be left with the need to replace the whole lot. Any thoughts?

If so, please post their website information, and an estimate of what they may charge. Thanks.

I have learned how to install a new light fixture and it is pretty straightforward, even though I have a 40 year old home.

However in the hallway there is a light that is hookedup to a switch at either end of the hall. Before I attempt to change it, will the wiring be any different. I want to make sure that the light switches work at both end of the hall.

Thank you for any help you can tell me. I am a 66 year old woman who is on a really fixed budget and it is imperative I save as much money as possible by doing as much work as I can around this house. So am very appreciative of any help you can give me.

My house lies in a midst of pines and the windows on the outside are coated with something I almost think is pine sap. It's not thick but is impossible to remove using conventional methods. I really can't afford to replace my windows right now. Any ideas?

Hello. I'm thinking of having a basic shower installed and don't want to be ripped off by unscrupulous tradesmen. Do you have any idea of the basic cost?

Hi, I moved into my flat about three years ago and have never bothered with the alarm and it;s never given me any bother. This morning though the outside part of the alarm was sort of going off. Well it didn't sound well anyway. It was kind of crackling with a very faint alarm sound. It sounded like a wet battery in there or something. I reset my alarm and it stopped for a bit, then started, then finally seems to have stopped. However, I'm scared of it starting again. Also, now whenever I go into the loo I set the alarm off inside! I just want to get rid of the bloody thing. Is there any way I can completely disable it easily myself without having to pay someone? Can't I just open up the panel and disconnect from the mains somehow? HELP!! My neighbours will hate me!

My kids were rough-housing and one of them put their head through the curio cabinet. How do you remove/replace a pane of glass? Also, what is the best house hold product to remove stains from a carpet? I'm on a tight budget and can't afford expensive chemicals.

I just spent $200 to fill my propane tank 9 days ago and they put in 68 gallons and it is now empty.

Even when I have the tempature set on 65 it feels llike 50.

The air that blows through the vents is not really hot just warm and sometimes cold.

The mobile home itself is really old.

It was made in 1970, so the insulation is really bad to.

I dont know what to do.

I have electric heaters running but they dont do much besides run up my electric bill. ($42 last month)

Would it be best to convert my propane heater to something else or will that even help.

What can I do.

My pipes keep freezing inside the trailer and one of them burst last month. (Not outside the trailer, not underneath the trailer, but inside the trailer. That's right, it is below freezing inside my trailer)
Please help.
I dont know what to do and dont say something stupid like turn your thermostat down. I am honestly at the point of suicide all ready dont push me over the edge. I keep it at 60.
