Recently our fridge stopped being as cold as normal. Our milk turned solid (yogurt-like, when a milk would expire). We put it at the highest/coldest setting and it's still not as cold as it used to be. The ice cream in the freezer isn't rock-hard anymore like it used to be either, it's soft. What could be the problem?

The water heater is about two or three years old. The pilot simply quits, and in the past two weeks, I've had to re-light the thing once a day, and today twice. I've tried tapping on the pilot's gas line, and that seemed to help for a while....I could see debris burning in the flame, and the pilot was much easier to light....but now it's just going out all the time. Is there anything I can do? Is my gas "dirty?" Should I have a filter in my gas line? Is the regulator bad? HELP! Cold showers suck! Thanks in advance, Greg

I accidently dropped my plastic glasses on the floor, and there are some minor scratches on it. Its not really that noticeable, but it still bothers me and I can't afford to buy new ones.

I just went to change a burned out lightbulb to have the light come out of the socket leaving the base of the bulb in (it did not break), then I saw that this happened to 2 of the lights in the same fixture (it is a ceiling fan with 4 lights) 2 have had the base of the bulb stay in the fixture when i tried to take them out. Do you think there is moisture in the fan, or are they cheap light bulbs? I have never had anything like this happen.

Live in Minnesota, it's been below zero for a few days in a row. Initially few days ago could not get hot water but cold worked fine at kitchen faucet. Local plumber suggested I find the pipes in the basement and put source of heat on them, and also drain hot water from some other faucet into the kitchen drain, and raise temperature in home by few degrees. Did all that and that night after a while hot water came back enough to run the dishwasher, etc. Then was gone 3 days, came back and now neither hot or cold gives me more than a drip. Hot water pipe under the sink feels warm. I again applied warm air both under sink and in the basement around the pipes for a bit, put a lot of hot water down the drain from another faucet, this time no success. Still just dripping.

What can I do?

Thanks!

I was wondering where roofers are needed right now.
I have a large sub crew is ready to go to work and with them being subs they have no unemployment coming in and we are in Southern Ohio which has about 1 + foot of snow and they are calling for another 1ft the beginning of the week so I know its going to be a month or so before we get back to roofing in ohio.

Roofing crew has workers comp and insurance and all the tools needed to do roofing work.

The cord won't even pull... it seems to be locked. (on both) The gas mix was a little old... perhaps 4 months. Both ran just fine until empty, with the same gas. They ran out of gas. I refilled them and discovered I could not pull the cord. They are both totally impossible to pull even an couple inches. Is this a 'seized' engine, or something more simple? I haven't yet tried again after cooling. One is 25 years old and one is about 5 years, no previous problems.
If this is something really bad and easy to diagnose, what can I do to prevent this if I purchase a new chain saw? Thanks!

I've seen outlets that say "15A" but I've always learned that we should always run 12-2 for outlets. Won't the conflict? Or if the breaker is only 15A then I can run 14-2 wire for outlets? Please explain in details. Thanks so much!

My waterlines froze in my house and I have to replumb most if not the whole house. I have pvc coming into the house and on my appliances. Do they make a connection to go from my supply lines (which are pvc) to Pex pipe and vice versa? I have 3/8" pvc so do I get the same size Pex?

Any other suggestions and tips would be appreciated. I have moderate experience with carpentry/plumbing but I have never even heard of Pex up to this point.

I recently purchased a home that had been involved in a fire restoration. As part of the restoration, the kitchen & foyer floor was laid w/ new vinyl flooring. However, there is a noticable "buckle" in the vinyl that runs the length of the kitchen floor & is about 10" wide. Same story in the foyer. I also noticed the entire perimeter of the floor was caulked around the baseboards. I decided to pull back the vinyl in the foyer & discovered that there was little to NO adhesive; rather, the new vinyl was attached directly to the old linoleum floor with double sided sticky tape (looks like that clear packing tape)!! I was stunned...all of the other homes that we have installed vinyl in had new plywood subfloors installed & the vinyl laid over that with adhesive.

When I contacted the restoration company to complain, they told me it buckled because the house had been vacant & I just needed to walk on it & it would adhere. I think it's substandard work & insurance fraud. Comments?

I have a forced air furnace with central air. I only have this problem in the winter, in the summer it stays dry. Rain and snow seem to not be a factor because it still happens even if it has not rained or snowed for weeks! I also have a cap on the chimney.

Our windows are vinyl-the mold and mildew will grow on the caulk around the windows...esp the caulk on the bottom of the window. We keep the house at about 66 degrees F---heated via LP. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
