ceiling joist; during construction what is the space from joist to joist ?

it may vary depending on if there is another floor above it. Generally they are 16" if there is a 2nd story, if it is a single story they could be as much as 24"

Most often it is 16" on center, but it could be 24" if there is not a floor above. Sometimes the architect specifies 19.2" when engineered joists or trusses are used. This spacing is marked with small diamonds on some measuring tapes.

Joist spacing would be 16" on center or 24" on center. 24" is common when roof trusses are used.

Decking joists are standard 16" on center. the bigger question is how long is the span?
