My son has an older painted cedar house and woodpeckers have made numerous holes in his house. I told him I would ask the question on Yahoo answers and get back with him. Thanks.

Found this nice website that talks about different non-lethal ways to deal with woodpeckers/flickers pecking on your house.

Well, this is true. My wife used a 22 to get rid of them on our ceder home we had in No. California. The home was in the woods and there was no problem. Her father was a gun smith and she knew how to shoot. We got rid of the woodpeckers but it took about 2 weeks. Once in a while we have to do it once more when another will stop buy to visit. One of the bad things about having a wood home instead of a brick or siding place.

You had three or four good answers when you posted this same question the first time.

I would suggest that it is true your brother's house has a bug problem that needs to be checked out by a reputable specialist / exterminator.

No bugs = no woodpeckers.

Place a fake Owl easily seen on all sides of the house.
