How can I sound proof a door without taking drastic measures?

Well, it depends... Are you wanting to stop noises the door makes while opening or closing? If so, you should apply some WD-40 to the hinges. However, I don't think that's what you're asking. I think you're wanting to keep noises from passing the door. Well, the best thing would be to replace the door with a solid core door. But you want to quick and easy here... so, there are some things you can try... they may help... but they probably won't be fool proof.

1. First of all, try adding weather stripping around the door frame. This will help block sounds that travel through the cracks.

2. Try placing a pillow along the bottom of the door. Select one that covers the entire length of the door to block any open spaces.

3. Finally, if asthetics are not an issue. Pick up some Polystyrene board or styrofoam board from your local hardware store and attach it (glue, liquid nail, or nail) to the back of the door.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

it is not a very difficult task to sound proof a door-you have to just buy an sound proof door if it is avalable in your locality. even glass prevent sound to pass through it. it can just make a glass door or make a glass covering on the door.

Drill a few small holes in the top and inject it with foam. You can buy expanding foam at any good hardware store of lowes/home depot. The cans cost 4 bucks and it will take a few to get the job done but it works great

You can buy some soundproofing/insulating material to put behind it. Possibly some type of foam.

Cool idea...I guess you would just block the cracks.

How? Maybe with a towel

You can't. Just buy one that has insulation inside it.
