I am responsible for yard work...he has provided a mower, but the yard will clearly need to be week wacked and the hedges maintained. Upon resigning of my lease, should I request this items for the landlord? Or is it my responsiblity to acquire these things? I feel since I dont own the home but merely maintain the yard it should be up to him to provide this. Please offer some sound advice.

We're totally confused. All my wife did was turn off the hot and cold water under the sink, cleaned the handle of the faucet, put the handle back on, turned the hot and cold water back on under the faucet and now the water is barely coming out.

My Polaris vacuum sprung a leak in the hose and drained a bunch of water out of the pool. The water level got below the minimum line and the pump and filter were pumping air all night. The system was still running when I discovered the problem and shut it off. Will there be any damage to the system? Can I just turn it back on after I refill the pool or do I need to add DE or anything first? Thanks!

This is a one-knob shower. You pull the knob to turn on the water - then you move it right or left for hot or cold. This shower hasn't been used for more than a year. Tried turning it on (pulling) recently and couldn't. Do you know what the problem is? Would it be hard to fix it ourselves? Thanks. Please refrain from suggesting to "pull harder" - that didn't work.

I just moved into an apartment with a dishwasher. It looks like it is at least a decade old. Now, I get spots all over my dishes. The last time I had a dishwasher was an apartment that I lived in three years ago and I had the same problem. I used all kind of rinse aid crap, dishwasher cleaner, etc. and it still didn't clean properly. The landlord told me not to use gel or those gelcap things because those things are too new for older dishwashers. Any ideas or should I just continue to wash dishes myself. Note: Landlord will not fix unless it is completely busted.

Also, I used my dishwasher only about once a week (it is just me). How often should I put rinse aid in?

My fiance and I are registering for gifts and I want him to be able to register for tools and such too, but Sears (the place with Craftsman tools) doesn't seem to be a great place to register for my things. Is Target or Home Depot ok for tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, etc. They don't seem to have any real popular name brand stuff.

Technically, this is not a pigtail at all. Some of the breakers in this box have two hot wires screwed to them, and I would like to correct this by installing new breakers. The problem is, there is not enough hot wire coming into the box to reach the bottom empty lugs where I will put the new breakers. It is allowable by NEC to extend the hot wire using a plastic cable nut inside the box? Thank you.

This circuit is fed into switch #1, then to lights overhead, then to switch #2. The problem is, I am getting continuity with ground (box) from two wires at switch #2. I have temporarily pigtailed two wires to complete the circuit and allow it to operate from switch #1 only. The switches themselves are new. Thank you.

Hiya,

Over the last couple of weeks the water out of the taps has become very hot
(scalding).
The boiler is on on a maintenace contract with british gas. They have come
out and looked and said there is nothing that can be done. "The temperature
is dictated by the amount of gas pressure which is preset in the factory."
The temperature gauge on the front is only for central heating apparently.
Is this correct? What could have caused it to suddenly start happening?

Any advice appreciated

I can't believe this. I just moved into an apartment last week. When cleaning the kitchen, I noticed a bunch of dead roaches (maybe 20-30) in the back of the cabinet under the sink. They appeared to be pretty old, totally dessicated. I called maintenance, the guy came out, he said that when he moved in (4 yrs ago) he had the same thing, dead roaches. He said the new owner has really cleaned up the place, and he has never had any problems with roaches after that initial finding in his apartment. He said that they haven't had any other tenants complain either. So maintenance says - yes, there apparently used to be roaches here, but they're long gone. He also said that no one has lived in my apartment for at least 2 years. I set out traps 4 days ago, haven't caught anything, and after cleaning the kitchen thoroughly, no new evidence of roaches, dead or alive. I just can't stop worrying about this. Anyone have some input here?? Thanks!!!

We are living in a small rental house for a few more months. We have noticed that after a hard rain, the water from the well is dirty. When filling up the bathtub, dirt collects. It is only a problem when it has rained really hard. Otherwise, the water seems fine - we filter our drinking water, generally. Just wondering if we ought to be concerned.
