Go on line to internet and get you a copy of the engine manual;just like a car engine manual you use to re-build a car motor.I recently had a Sears riding mower engine re-built and I had to go on line to get the manual to re-build the engine back to original specs.Sounds like you need the Briggs & Stratton manual but be sure you go by the serial numbers and model nos.
