Put dishes in, pour in dishwashing soap (like Cascade - not the same soap used for manual dishwashing), close the soap compartment, close the dishwasher, and press the start option that best meets your needs (like normal, low energy, pot n pans, etc). It's possible that you're having problems because there is a lever at the top that needs to be moved right before you can turn the dishwasher on (some models have it, some don't).

Best of all, why don't you go and introduce yourself to your neighbors and ask for help. Bring them cookies.

The shut off valve is probably still turned off.The dishwasher should have all the paperwork in the dishwasher. Is this really a Brand new house and a Brand new dishwasher? (you are the first owner)The dishwasher must be plugged in.The plug is almost always near the sink, inside the cabinet.Depnding if it is a "dial type",or push button, you simply load it and do what common sense tells you. There may be a start button,or it simply turns on after you make your wash type selection.

Try these things first.Remember, there will be a shut-off valve supplying the dishwashers water, make sure it is turned on,(turn knob to the LEFT.

Find the instruction book and follow the directions. If there is no instruction book, you can go the manufacturers website and download it.

Plug it in then follow your instruction booklet, they are all different.

If no booklet, contact the maker by internet or phone.
