The agitator does move during the wash cycle. The water drains properly, and rinse waster is added. The knob moves to indicate it is in the spin cycle. The water drains, and there is a noise like the machine is operating, however the drum does not spin. So, the clothes are still pretty wet when I move them to the dryer.

Is this something I could attempt to repair myself? If it requires a repairman, how much should I expect to pay? I'm wondering if I should just get a new washer. However, this one is only a few years old.

If anyone has any expertise or experience in dealing with this, I'd sure appreciate your advice. Thanks!

The plumber was supposed to be here this 'morning' and now it is almost 1:00pm and he's still not here. How long do I wait before I say screw it and go shopping?? (It is not a plumbing emergency)

I am currently involved in a lot of home repairs along with hiring help to fix my house. I called a plumber to take care of various problems, he says I need a new water conditioner. How much should an average water conditioner cost?

The condo we live in is gated and our phone line has to be hooked up with the intercom so we'll be able to buzz people in. However, the phone we bought is "digital" (I dunno if that's the right word)[Uniden PowerMax], meaning we don't have to plug the phone to the phone jack in order for it to work. We just connected it to the modem/router that we have for the internet and to the power socket. The management told us that we HAVE to plug the phone in the phone jack to make the intercom work. Is that true? So now, we run down stairs to get people in the condo which is SOOOO incovenient. Is there any way we can have the intercom work without buying another phone unit?

...probably some sort of mismatch w/transformer?? Seems to last for a while before the internal plastic 'clapper' ends up getting stuck and melting somewhat. What do I need to look for, either with replacement bell or on transformer, to select correct parts?

My toilet will not stop running and it has made my water bill shoot through the roof. It takes forever for it to refill with water and I am tired of hearing it run all night. Should I replace everything or is one thing causing this to happen?

My hot tub does not get hot enough. The light on the heater does not come on. Anybody have any tips for me? Everything else is fine, jets, pump, and breakers are not tripped. Thank you. If you think you know what the problem is can you explain how to fix it?

used pex to hook it all up, other fixture's hot water works great. if I turn the handle to all the way hot, full blast, I get lukewarm at best. back off on the pressure, but still at full hot and I get a trickle of very hot. oh, and i checked the dumb "no scald regulator" thing, and it's on full hot. this is the second fixture i've installed since the last one I assumed was faulty after taking it apart and looking for some blockage and finding none. now this new one is doing the exact same thing, (different brand) and I would greatly enjoy taking a hot shower now, thanks.

I need to know what the going rate is for roofing a home. I live in Texas and I was told I have approximately "30 squares" on my roof. I am trying to make sure that I get an accurate price quote from these construction companies.

My downstairs toilet has been running off and on for a few months. I just got a bill for the last three months in the mail- our usage is normally 9-11 units, this time it was 42. I watered my plants a few times when it was really hot, but only about 8-9 times, and I have a tiny yard, so I didn't use a lot. Other than the toilet, I can't seem to figure out how we could have used that much water -could one toilet *really* cause that much usage? There isn't any water in our basement, or in any of our rooms, and no evidence that the toilet is leaking below the floor.

I have someone from our burough office coming to take a look on Monday, but does anyone have any ideas? If so, what should I look for? Thanks!
