I am currently involved in a lot of home repairs along with hiring help to fix my house. I called a plumber to take care of various problems, he says I need a new water conditioner. How much should an average water conditioner cost?

A basic water softener installed should be about $800.00. These systems will soften the water and regenerate itself about every two or three days by a timer. They work fine and you will have soft water whenever needed.

More expensive units are, on demand, meaning they measure the water being used and will regenerate the system as needed. The cost factor is triple or more the price.

Have your water tested for how much Iron in in the water. Call some plumbing stores to see if they have the kit to test it. Water must be before your current softener. This test will also inform you on how to set the softener.

I guess I could go on and on but at least you have the basics for now. Good Luck

That is way too high! If you are talking about a water softener??? We just got a large size one from Sears (for a 4 bedroom house) for about $500.00 and it works great!!! Check out the site. But - plumbers a pretty expensive, so that may be the cost to install too. My husband installed ours so I am not sure of the labor costs.
