The condo we live in is gated and our phone line has to be hooked up with the intercom so we'll be able to buzz people in. However, the phone we bought is "digital" (I dunno if that's the right word)[Uniden PowerMax], meaning we don't have to plug the phone to the phone jack in order for it to work. We just connected it to the modem/router that we have for the internet and to the power socket. The management told us that we HAVE to plug the phone in the phone jack to make the intercom work. Is that true? So now, we run down stairs to get people in the condo which is SOOOO incovenient. Is there any way we can have the intercom work without buying another phone unit?

No, the intercom system is integrated with the phone system. Buy a cheapie phone like Duke said and you'll be fine. By the way, if you ever had a power outage, how would you call police, fire, medical, etc? Everyone should have a "dumb" (does not require power to operate)phone.

No, just buy a cheap analog phone roughly $17.00 at Bestbuy and hook to the phone jack.
