without a qualified electrician? I was under the impression that new building regs have made it unlawful. Which is a pain because I am perfectly capable of fitting a light in my bathroom in place of the crappy flourescent strip light.

What is the best thing I can use that would remove dried primer from wood trim?

PS - this IS a rental, so I can't do anything drastic.

The wood trim is probably not even real wood...

Any ideas?

I am now 48 years old stuck in a dedend job and constantly try for other work.
Being a keen diy person i have tackled some small electrical jobs in the home and found the work interesting (when the work was still legal, UK law now changed making a lot of tasks now illegal)

I need to rent a floor sander - the upright orbital type looks best. House is in a remote location (on island), and I'd probably spend several days getting the tool there and back. I'd like to find somewhere I could get a sander but only pay for the time I actually use it... or other ideas on how to get this done!

I have an exterior door that's 37" x 78". It's wooden with a double-paned glass middle. Standard size is 36x80 .
I need ideas on where to find a replacement without paying $$ for a custom-order door. I can shim in 1" of the width, but cutting a tall door shorter or heightening the frame would be difficult.

My daughter somehow managed to knock our sliding glass shower door off track. (the door is resting inside the tub) We lifted the door up and got the rollers correctly positioned however we couldn't slide the door bottom past the plastic tracking piece. HELP!!! I want my kids out of my shower and back into their own.

Help! I have a dual kitchen sink with a garbage disposal. Recently the garbage disposal stopped working and now the sink won't drain on the disposal side. The other side drains fine but the dishwasher will not drain either! The garbage disposal won't even turn on anymore. We stuck our hands in there and pulled out broken glass (grrrr at whoever put broken glass in my sink and let it go down the drain!). I really can't afford a plumber and needless to say, I have no idea what to do and where to start. Is there a simple troubleshooting way to begin to figure out the problem that can be used by someone as clueless as me? By the way, I really don't know if I would be able to manage taking anything apart...maybe there is an easy way that someone can let me know about? Thanks in advance!

I have foam insulation sprayed directly to the roof joists. There is no venting at all in the attic. I have the insulation people saying "no ventilation" and the people that want to replace my roof 'need ventilation" - Who do I believe?

The lawn mower has actually been used numerous times since and ran sluggish, but now, the crank is locked and the cord won't pull. I already pulled the spark plug, drained the oil from there and cleaned the spark plug, but now it will start, run maybe 10 or 15 seconds, puff out a lot of white smoke which I know is the oil burning off, but what else do I need to take apart or clean or do to get it to run again?
