I have always facied working as an electrician is my dream now impossible?
I am now 48 years old stuck in a dedend job and constantly try for other work.
Being a keen diy person i have tackled some small electrical jobs in the home and found the work interesting (when the work was still legal, UK law now changed making a lot of tasks now illegal)
Could i still live this dream any idears or am i to old to train up and get a job?

Sure you can, many people turn to self employment at your age. You've figured out what you like doing and now want to do it full time - go for it.
No shortage of work for sparkies, especially with the new Part P.
Your local collage can help but remember you'll be on a course with young lads - don't worry about that - you've got far more skills than they have overall.

Hello , You are not to old get on- line for electrician schools there is plenty of them. The U K use a different system than here in the USA and more complex for the home electrician, so to get the basics you will need some schooling in a year or less you should be able to pass the test remember you wont be an engineer just a electrician GO YAHOO . Old dogs can still learn new tricks, I have been in the a/c, maintenance field for over 22 years, Pretty much all I have ever done, Now with 2 bad disks in my back, Dr, says NO more of my field. I'm taking a Poker dealer class right now and start college in the spring for Computer Science. Never too late to start

Too old! Are you mad!
Age is of no concern. If you train professionally as an electrician you dont necessarily even need to find and employer! Be your own employer.
You could also take a course in business...

A trained electrician has spent about 5 years learning, so don't think you will be a proper electrician after doing about 2 years at college.

don't mean to discourage you, but I have been an Electrician for 30 years, worked for B.F. Goodrich, and now for General Motors. I can't qualify to take the test because, they are set up for newly graduated apprentices, I finished my apprenticeship 30 years ago. You need to find a master Electrician to work with you, or find one you can work under his license.

You can get trained at your local college. My son was an accountant and went on a 2 year training course for plumbing. There were plenty of older people in the class.

yes you can train to be an electrician like you i love this type of work i am 46 you can talk to your adult collage or contact learn direct you can train at home this is what i am going to do you can find there no in the phone book hope this helps good luck

your never too old if you have the desire and you really want to be 1 then go for it i passed as a plumber last year ok I'm 30 but its the best thing Ive ever done go for it!

yes you can still do it, as long as you can do the three years at college pass your exams, do five years practical on the tools, complete the 2391 inspection and testing course,"80% failiure rate" then you will be fully qualified and entitled to full rate...... "like me"
your age is of no real importance, just your enthusiasm that counts..
