I have an exterior door that's 37" x 78". It's wooden with a double-paned glass middle. Standard size is 36x80 .
I need ideas on where to find a replacement without paying $$ for a custom-order door. I can shim in 1" of the width, but cutting a tall door shorter or heightening the frame would be difficult.

don't just assume you can order a custom door and it will be built. More than likely the door manufacturer will add trim to widen the door and take some off the top and, or, bottom to shorten it.
check out used doors on the net, or ask suppliers of motel hotel doors. Why not refinish the old one, might be easier!
