Maintenance & Repairs - July 2006

The seller's disclosure statement says that the roof was repaired at one point, but that there are no current problems with the roof. We had a hard rain last week and it is leaking buckets of water. Three roofers said independently yesterday that the roof is a mess; it's been patched many, many times and will cost approximately $6,000 to fix. What legal recourse do I have? Can the seller be held responsible? I live in GA, by the way.

Our dishwasher has less than 1/2" water left on the bottom after each cycle. The water is clean as are the dishes. When I hit the drain button, the water drains out fine. Is this something to worry about?

I have a 2 story house with 3 bathrooms. The toilet bowl in each one has a low water level. The plumber said he has never seen a situation where all the toilet bowls in a single house had a defect. He still suggest I replace the bowls. However, if the problem is not a defect in the bowls I would have wasted money. Is there some other problem that could cause this low water level?

My Father in Law is looking to get rid of his Termite Investation and they were looking at two different methods, either using the Foam that they drill for, or the classic tenting the house method. Which is better? I heard that the foam last longer, is that true? What are the benefits of each and the negatives of each? Thanks

Could it be the thermostat? I truly have no idea and don't want to spend alot of unnecessary money to have it fixed if it is nothing major. Or if it is something I could fix on my own.

Its been really hot for the past 10 days in London. A smell very strong is coming from the back of the hotpoint fridge. There's a container full of murky , stinky brown water which needs emptying.

How do I do it? I can't remove the container. I need to replace the water I think.

is it safe to do this? The pump I think is just above and is marked dangerous, you might die.

would you try emptyimg this?
