Yes its ok, shouldnt hurt them at all. Things to consider though:
-if there is any moisture at all inside (almost always is) it will get very funky if you dont have the doors propped open (or removed). Removing them also ensures that some kid cant get himself trapped inside and suffocate.
- when you are ready to use it again, if you had to move the unit (tipped it on it's side or if it rattled around in a truck or something) its a good idea to let it sit in its new location for an hour or so to let things settle before plugging it back in.

Some of the older refrigerators have rubber gaskets in their refrigerant lines. Storing them unplugged can dry out these gaskets, which will make the refrigerant leak out.
Usually, it takes longer than four months for this to happen.
Another problem with storing refrigerators unplugged is that the refrigerator can get stale. You should store it with the door open, and some baking powder inside, so that it doesn't stink like HHHeLL.

Yes, but you have to either remove the door or leave it open. If you have children who could access it, in my area it is illegal to leave the door attached because they could get trapped inside and suffocate. It will not harm the the fridge to store it unplugged, just make certain it is clean inside, outside and underneath.
