The 3 walls surrounding the shower are making waves! Do I need to replace the paneling 'cause it's cheap or am I in for a world of hurt from a leaking pipe?

the paneling in the shower has a shiny barrier the we are assuning is water proof>>>>guessing not???

You got water back there Maybe not a leaking pipe but water seeping in through the seams - the edges where the panels meet. You need to remove those panels and check for water damage to the cement board or drywall behind it. If they're damaged you need to remove 'em and check the framing behind for damage. If the framing is only wet and not damaged, let it dry completely before building it all back up again. Don't wait too long to do it, 'cause the damage will only get worse.

Is this in the basement, if so you need special below ;ground paneling. If not, you still need special paneling for showers. So guess your going have to to remove a piece and see if the dampness is coming from a pipe, sure hope not. Good luck. Been there too.

Nope, no leaking pipe there, just plane old high humidity. Replace the paneling, use the exhaust fan (90CFM or higher).

You have paneling in the shower? That doesn't sound waterproof!
