Seems like a basic question, but we live in the southwest .... new mexico. Our backyard has a lot of natural vegetation, chamisal, sage, wild flowers, etc. Our land is a birdlover's paradise! We're torn, removing old / dry & dead sage branches will result in some loss of the bird's environs and yet we'd like to propagate the healthy sage and other vegetation...What suggestions do you have.

You know when it comes christmas time, and you buy a real tree, after your done with your christmas tree dont you think we should replant them instead of throwing them away... I know the tree is not dead because we have done it every year after christmas and they all have grown more and more. Let me know what you all think.

I have a chain link fence exactly on our property line, the fence is mine. He has some ugly weed like thing (non-intentional, he didn't plant it or anything) growing like wildfire on my fence. The plant itself is like an inch rooted in his yard....but it entangles my fence. Can I rip it out? thanks!

I'm not sure of the complete name and species, but it's a pastel powder pink and after it flowered, many petals fell and scattered and the others dried on the stem.
Shold I cut the dead flowers off?
The plant itself is actually a cluster of them.
Should I transplant some? If I do, How?
When I bought the plant, the leaves were a dark green. Now, they turned yellow green. Is it normal? Am I doing something wrong, maybe?
Or is it because it's rainy season here, and we've had a few typhoons...?
Any advice would help.

Our winters are usually pretty mild. We usually don't get a week's worth of weather under 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The garden is in full sun. There's lots of humidity and a decent amount of rainfall. My dad doesn't want to plant more than five or six types of plants. We're planning on a garden probably about 20X30. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I live in Ct., and have a huge backyard, (5 acres). I want to plant pine trees/xmas trees, just to make it look nice. I seem to recall the State of Ct. selling seedlings, for almost nothing. But, I cannot recall who/what/where. I can't find it on the net. Anybody have any ideas? Regards, Bob

Hi, i am in need of some fresh and different ideas to finish my garden. I hope you can understand my explanation of what i have done so far...My garden is 26ft x 19ft, From the back door there is a semi-circle which is 11ft wide x 6ft, then surrounding that is a larger semi-circle which is 19ft wide x 10ft. Both semi-circles are edged in charcoal pavers and filled with plum slate (20mm in small, 40mm in large). At the bottom end there is a shed and kids play area which covers 19ft wide x 7ft. The problem is the middle area, about 19ft x 9ft. I don't want a lawn, i want something interesting and different with a dark feeling, i'm using mostly white flowering plants. Also it needs to be quite cheap and fairly easy. In the play area i've got bark but the dog keeps eating it. The soil is clay, very hard to dig. Please help i've had 8 weeks of thinking due to broken foot and all i come up with is a headache. Thanks in advance. Any ideas welcome.

Should I have left my Gourd plant in? It's September. The blooms just have developed little gourds. But it's getting bitter cold at night and mornings. Live iN Northern Utah. So I just pulled the plant out. And was mad it myself as I saw these little gourds. It was fun so watching it grow.
What's a better way for such a vigorous vine to plant? On a trellie or against a fence? For next year so I know better. Thanks.

Hello. I got caught up in Roses several months ago and was able to purchase a Striped Rose from the previous 'Uncommon Rose' co. I am having a bit of trouble getting him going though. This was several months ago, i would hazard to say around April or March. I acquired several other general themed roses(Tropicana, Mirandy....) locally and they are doing well. The Painter's Palette I purchased was around 6" high with tiny twiggy branches about half the width of a pencil and he is still around the same. I lightly fertilize him (about 1teaspoon rose fert. every 1 1/2 to 2 months) and water well. He gets full sun but at first we only gave him a little more than half day sun (I was afraid his soil would get too hot here in Texas). I treated with Ortho Spray for Roses (Fungacide, and Insecticide) every 2-4 weeks. He is potted in a lg. gal container. He sprouts several leaves, holds them for a while then they get sick and drop away. Each time I am sure he will not make a return, he does.ThankU

Hi...I've got some strange Alliums, with nearly purplish black florets and smelly leaves!...They send up leaves in fall and Each flower bulb produces dozens of Yellow, lemon-pip-like offsets and dies after... How can I fatten the bulblets for next season's bloom? What potting mixture/fertilizing plan do you suggest for best bulblet growth?...
