Will he survive?
I saw him pop something into his mouth, and I'm pretty sure it was either gypsum or dirt, or both.

Let's say I'm too lazy to make two seperate piles of weeds (acceptable to compost, and unacceptable to compost). What if I just want to cut down on work and dump them all in the compost pile. Is there anything I can do to make sure they won't germinate later?
Could I put something like weed 'n feed in my compost pile, or would that be stupid?
Thanks.

The tree appears to be dying in the areas where this stuff is. What is it, and how do I get rid of it? Will the tree survive?

Most of the places I go to don't have herb seeds at this time of year, and the one that does only has spearmint and peppermint. I got the spearmint, but is there really such thing as a chocolate mint plant? Does it taste any good?

I have lots of trees on my property and every fall I rake up lots of leaves from my driveway, walkway, and small lawn. I have tried composing them, but I never have enough grass and kitchen waist to even out the ratio.

I have visited two local coffee houses and I pick up there left over coffee grinds and that helps the pile out for about a week or two.

Is there anything else I can do to help speed up the composting? Fall is on its way and I haven't even finished composting last fall (or the fall befor that!) leaves yet! O.o

Hi! I have tried to research this question on my own and can't seem to find an answer. It is about a tree I have in my yard here in So. California. This tree (literally) sheds once a year. The first stage is when it develops it's "flower". This looks like a small off white or very pale yellow puff ball. When it sheds it looks almost as if it's snowed in our yard. Tiny hair like pieces and seeds come down and cover the yard. It causes many people to have an allergic reaction. After all of this "fur" falls a tiny maroon berry grows and falls off. Let me add that the tree started off looking like a large bush and has grown huge. It's leaves are small and dark green. It also attracts bees when it is flowering. Anyone know a name??

my dad has these bushes/trees in the front and my mom has been saying for the past month that they needed to be trimmed good. I wanted to surprise my parents before they came home from work so I got a electric tree trimmer and cut them in half and cut off alot of branches and stuff. It looks like a real hack job and my dad will be mad.

Do you think it caused permenant damage? or will they grow back normally next year?

I've recently moved from a flat to a house with lawn and garden. Apart from moving the lawn, I have no idea what to do with it - how to look after what's already here, how to get rid of the weeds (even how to tell which are weeds and which are *real* plants!), and how to make it a nice garden in general.

Where can I find a guide online that's free, and starts from an assumption of knowing nothing?!?

Can we just leave the bulbs so they come back the following spring? We are in Allentown and have very little sun in the backyard due to a large tree. We do have sun in the front of the house. What bulb flowers will keep multiplying year after year? Thank you :)

I want the plant to now bush out on the trellis, but it only appears to get new shoots at the top when I prune. I really don't want it growing further up as there isn't anything for it to lean on. Pls advise. thanks in advance.

after adding the contents of a compost bag onto my garden i was surprised to find I had an abundance of petunias growing which I had not planted. I left them in place while they were flowering but on removal I find they have taken all the goodness away that was already there.

People should know the importance of trees! They provide us with oxygen. Help prevent slides in mountains. Provide us with shade. In addition, it decorates earth with all its green leaves, without them the earth would seem like a desert, and i dont think we could survive there. But not only are we, humans, in danger but so are the animals, they need a place to live in and eat and reproduce. My moral is stop being selfish, think of others !

Surely we'll see less and less birds etc around in urban areas, because of wanting everything to be low maintenance. I'm as guilty as anyone by the way.

I'm very new to gardening and I've finally decided to tackle my back garden which is reminiscent of a jungle. I've got these monstrous weeds in the only soil patch in the garden which I intend to eradicate by smothering them with an old carpet, and I've also got these weeds like dandelion, poppy and nettle. These are dotted here and there in the garden and so I can't reasonably smother them. I want to use a weed killer but aren't they harmful to the environment? Is there an alternative?

I've planted both mums and pansies this past week - how long do they typically survive into the fall in the midwest? Do pansies fill in very well? They seem a sparser flower. Also, I planted them in partial sun before realizing that they need full sun (didn't have one of those stick thingies in the ones I bought). Will they survive? Should I move them?

Thanks in advance for your patience, I'm a bit of a bumbling idiot when it comes to this stuff.
