We have cedar chips around all our shrubs and it's difficult to pick up the clippings after pruning. Is anyone aware of an easy way to do this?

Use a tarp. Put it down before you start clipping - tuck it in around the shrubs. Clip away. Pull the tarp away carefully, gather up the sides and use like a funnel to load them into the compost pile or trash bag.

I am glad you brought that up. I realized this afternoon that shrubs were overhanging our driveway so badly that the car by the shrubs was getting its mirror batted by branches. I was all set to grab the hedge clipper but then came up against this problem. After skimming the answers you got I will start tomorrow with a tarp and make my life easy.

If you already clipped it is probably too late for a tarp. Use a rake to get out large pieces but for a truly professional look you might need to sprinkle down another layer of cedar chips. You might also consider paying a child to do the time consuming work of picking out every little piece if putting down more chips is out of the question.

I pick up as I go along.

How about spreading a cover of some sort on the ground before you start. Do you have an old sheet?

Lay plastic around area first, then trim, your clippings will fall on plastic, and when you finish, just pick up the plastic and dispose.

Use an old sheet to put under the bush or tree. Then just fold it up and empty it.~

All of the were correct.
I use my garden trailer and toss into that and then drive down to burn pile.
If you don't have one just use a big tarp.
