The carpet is beige and the walls are a very light beige.

I really like dark furniture and artwork(black, blue, brown, mocha, etc.) but I just want my room to look as good as can be with that set carpet and walls. Thanks for your responses!

I have two apartments to pick from. the first one is on the second story, has a lot of windows, a new stove, table and chairs, a tv with stand. and is really cute, but it doesnt have air conditioning. it only has a living room and a kitchen. but the living room is small. and a small closet. however, you can have fans, and utilities are included, so i wouldnt have to worry about the electric bill. the second one is ground level, has one window, furnished with table and chairs, an air conditioner, has a bigger living room(both unfortunatley have just two main rooms, but they are efficiency apts.) with enough space and a big closet. however, its darker since it only has one window. utilities are also included. im having a hard time deciding. but what i mainly like about the first one is the way it looks. however its a little small. the second one is larger, but doesnt look as good. i will be living by myself though.

My husband and I recently bought a new home. The color of the carpet is light grey and the walls are also freshly painted with light grey color. I would like to know what type of color I can use for my window BLINDS that will make the rooms look fresh and alive.

Also for the backyard what is the good and functional option wooden deck or a stoned, landscapping?

thanks

My parents bought a new kitchen from Wickes, which have lots of cut price appliances. Now we have a choice between an Electrolux ESL6115 which is priced at 250.GBP new and boxed (discount 50% off) and Zanussi ZDI6054QX Stainless Steel (very stylish) which is ex display and also half price at 300 GBP. I don't know which one to go for, which do you think I should buy?

I have large windows in my stairwell that go from bottom of house to top. Consists of 3 slider windows 58X58 placed one on top of the other. They face my neighbors 3 windows. I need to replace. I want to do something different than what is already there. Was thinking about a picture window for the top (kind of silly to have a window that can open when nobody can reach it), a double or triple slider for the middle and a picture on bottom (could reach to open but would need step stool, plus it is ground level so security is issue). Any other ideas? Also, I was thinking about "rain glass" instead of clear since it will cost a ton to have custom verticals made. My concern with this is 2 fold.... even though glass isn't clear neighbors could still see shadows and 2, isn't the point of a picture window to see through it? Any ideas or suggestions? I've looked at a ton of pictures and like so much. I've even considered glass block but its too expensive. I'm in remodel hell!

I have knocked the plasterboard of my fireplace to re-open it, to put a hole in the wall fire in. However there are two pipes in the wall of the old fire. One which comes ends in the fire and the other pipes which comes in and out backinto the wall.

What could these be, and would i need someone to test the pipes to see if they are no longer in use.

Thanks

Am I the only one who sees wallpaper borders that are placed up by the ceiling as tacky? I feel this way because it looks like you couldn't cut in with the paint properly so you just put up a border. Also, I have heard that Interior decorators dislike them placed up high too. I went to a model home and they had a border in the middle of the wall with coordinating wallpaper above and below it. I like that, but up near the ceiling yuck!

My daughter bought a wicker set to be used outside her home. Has a dark finish on the set, and comes with a red puffy cushion on the loveseat. 2 chairs, loveseat and a table. Is there any reason she can't use this in her yard? She thought maybe there was some kind of spray that might waterproof it for use in the yard. What would you suggest?

Or, would she be better off putting the whole set on her porch? There is a metal roof over the porch, tho 3 sides are open.

I am a furniture craftsman, starting my own biz & need to know what people want in High-End furniture. I make any kind of furniture in many styles including custom one-off pieces. This is real furniture, made from real trees-no plastics, particle board, etc.
