My parents bought a new kitchen from Wickes, which have lots of cut price appliances. Now we have a choice between an Electrolux ESL6115 which is priced at 250.GBP new and boxed (discount 50% off) and Zanussi ZDI6054QX Stainless Steel (very stylish) which is ex display and also half price at 300 GBP. I don't know which one to go for, which do you think I should buy?

Tough decision... and you only have a few set options by sound of it.

I went for a Miele "something SC" at £415 delivered. They are slightly more expensive (but you can find occasional bargains)... as I read WHICH and they were top-rated for quality/durability ect. Each model they bring out is tested to last 20 years... and mine came with free 5 year guarantee (call-out ect).. but that was on free special offer. If you can.... i'd just try and not be tempted by the cheaper machines and go for a Miele.

Anyone who knows anything about appliances is going to tell you Zanussi. All Electrolux appliances are pants.

Yeah I have a Miele too and it is excellent. But that's not the question, there is a choice between a Zanussi and Electrolux.

Zanussi joined the Electrolux family in the 80's so your choice is really about the level you can afford. Sounds like your first model is not as high a quality as your second. Get the most for your budget.

If you are choosing between the makes then I would probably go for the Zanussi. But have you looked at what feature they offer - for instance what washing programmes do they have, do they have folding plate racks - so that you can put large pans, baking trays in etc. - For each washing programme how long does is take, my dishwasher is only 5 years old and the top programme takes 5 hours! ridiculous, I wish I had compared models rather than just taking what the kitchen shop sold.

Try looking at a Which? survey which compares different machines which would best suit your needs

Maybe go for the one that has the best energy rating.

depends on the ratings, it should be rated for energy efficiency, wash and dry so choose whichever one has the highest rating or the one you can afford!
