I was told that if I used this motif in helping a friend decorate his living room (the layout and several items already in the room would lend themselves to the decor going in this direction) I could be sued or prosecuted. Is this true? If so, please cite the specific case law or statute. Also, if it is true in your state, is it also true in Virginia? Thank you.

Woud you paint the walls a light blue to match the blue of the comforter? They do show it like that in one setting. Thanks for your help.

We recently moved into a house that was built in 1956..anyway..in the main bathroom, the lady that used to live here put up a wallpaper border of grass and flowers that matched her sponged Easter egg colored walls (yes, really..pink, blue, yellow and green)..I am removing the border with Dif but when I put ANY pressure on the wall with the plastic scraper..the latex paint is coming up, but only where the border was. It's going right down to the plaster, so now I'm not sure how to rectify the difference between the painted wall and the plaster. I am being extremely careful not to damage the plaster. Question: Do I sand the wall where the paint meets up to the plaster and then use a primer for both OR do I use some kind of compound over the paint/plaster and THEN sand and THEN prime..WHEW!!! HELP!!! Any and all suggestions are welcome!

I have a tiny kitchen (about 12 ft x 6ft) and I'm thinking of remodeling. I've seen those stovetops that can be installed on to a counter with drawers or a dishwasher underneath and I think I want that instead of the oven/stove combo everyone seems to have. Since we use the toaster oven for everything the regular oven never gets used and seems to be wasting a lot of space. But that's because there are two residents - I'd imagine that someone with kids would need an oven, right? Anyway, would not having an oven in the kitchen be a problem when I eventually go to resell the house?

I don't want white walls because I already have white walls. Just looking for interesting options. My floor is mostly white with really small blue flowers. I really am not leaning towards blue but haven't ruled it out. Thanks, Julie

Cuban mahogany is not commercially available today, but it was used extensively in the 1800's. It is a different kind of wood from the type of mahogany which is sold today.
A new home built using such materials would be unique.

I plan to take away the carpet in my basement, and install some other type of flooring. A friend recommended the engineering hardwood flooring. Yet I heard that a little moisture would be disastrous for this type of flooring. Is there a better option out there?

I recently moved, and got my mother's old bedroom suite instead of the small bedroom set I had before.
I'm a fourteen-year-old girl, and a prep. I'm sick of the guys that come over avoiding my pink[now brown] room.
For one wall, I'm redoing my dedication wall. This has a white shelf ontop of it, and my walls need to stay white. The pictures & posters on this wall are going to be in black & white.
Should I do all of my room black and white [keeping in mind I have alot of boys over] and add red, or should I use another color scheme. I still want my wall, though.
Any ideas of what all I should do?
BTW. my favorite colors are lime green, hot pink, red, aqua, orange, and I still like black and white. My dresser & hutch are an oak color with gold on them.

I am buying my first home and in one of the rooms (rec. room) there is that ugly black and white large checkered board flooring. I just hate it. But i can afford to change the flooring in that room right now. Does anyone have any suggestions on what colors (besides white) would go well with this flooring?

Hi, i have a slight problem.... about 5 yrs ago when my sister still lived at home she decided to redecorate... using a sponge. now i've got the big room and i want to redecorate again. i've already sanded down some of the wall but it's not easy to do that for the whole 25msquared!! and even the bits i have done take forever to sand until they look normal!!
I have been using pretty rough sandpaper so it's probably not going to help to go and find rougher stuff ( if such stuff exists, without being pebbles stuck to paper ), i've already been told that using polycell stuff to paint over it is a bad idea by a real ex-painter, and he suggested just using warm water and a paint scrapper.. This didn't really work that well either... it went right through 2 the plaster.. and I'm not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing? is it a good idea to just take all the paint off the walls like that? would it be possible 2 use a paint stripper gel on walls? all the references ive found refer 2 wood

I am planning to upgrade the bedding in my entire house and decided to go for the best this time. Is Egyptian cotton the best and softest of all? I am going for separate sheets, covers, comfortors etc., as opposed to "bed-in-a-bag with pretty designs" which I had previously, so that I can select higher threadcounts...what threadcounts are considered the best in Egyptian cotton?

Lastly what are some good places to get these from?
