Abstract art all the way - you can just be as creative as you want to be, you can really let rip and let your artistic flair explode - your whole room will be a blank canvas just itching for you to create - and you don't have to be too neat.

I have vintage advertisements in my kitchen - and a brilliant vintage film still mosaic near my telly in the front room and musical heros mosaic near my stereo in same room. Disney is for kids unless you can vamp them up a bit......maybe not - I've seen some things regarding snow white and cinderella and it was kinda sick!

Abstract is defo the better option for your own room as you can create not only the art but the atmosphere too.

Why not do your room in vintage [ which will fit well in a future home ] and do some Disney for the bath?
Examples:
Donald Duck in a towel
Minnie mouse in the tub
Mickey Mouse combing his 'hair', or adjusting bow tie in mirror
Or, start now and do Disney sleep [ or trying to ] scenes for your room!
If you do abstracts; use primary color art pieces, and get bedding in a combo of red, yellow, blue - the do rest of room in those colors on white background.
For vintage ads: try doing toiletry ads for bathroom; bed, bedding, nightshirts, etc., for bedroom; different food ones for kitchen; maybe movie ads for living room; TV ads for family room; and miscellaneous for hallways.
