I recently moved, and got my mother's old bedroom suite instead of the small bedroom set I had before.
I'm a fourteen-year-old girl, and a prep. I'm sick of the guys that come over avoiding my pink[now brown] room.
For one wall, I'm redoing my dedication wall. This has a white shelf ontop of it, and my walls need to stay white. The pictures & posters on this wall are going to be in black & white.
Should I do all of my room black and white [keeping in mind I have alot of boys over] and add red, or should I use another color scheme. I still want my wall, though.
Any ideas of what all I should do?
BTW. my favorite colors are lime green, hot pink, red, aqua, orange, and I still like black and white. My dresser & hutch are an oak color with gold on them.

You should paint your room the way that will make you happiest, not what will make your friends or boys want to stay. If you are dead set against the color of your room then I have a few ideas.

You could paint the walls white or off white, that way your comforter and furnishings can be fun and funky colors like aqua or orange. With a neutral wall color, everything else in
your room can be pretty much any color you want and it'll match fairly well. If you hate the idea of painting it white here are a few more ideas:

If you paint the room aqua or light blue, black and white or black and silver will look great, plus blue is fairly easy to match, so you won't have many headaches over it.

If it helps, find a great piece of art or a poster and base your entire room around the colors in that poster. Just do whatever makes you the happiest.

Check out the links below for ideas, it's from HGTV and the article and pictures are of a girl's room who was also struggling with too much pink. Take a look at what they did.

Oh and one last word about decorating with black and white:

"This style uses black as an anchor to set off a dramatic decorating look. Use a black and white floor, crisp white linens and comforters, and upholstered chairs. Set off the black with accents in red or warm gold, but be sure to pick up the black and white theme in lamps, pillows, picture frames, and other elements of the room." - Find the article this came from in my last link.

Good luck!

1] Try a black, white, and red print for bedding. Paint the walls [ except dedication wall ] white, with skinny [ 2 - 3 inch ], occasional [ every 2 feet ] stripes of red and /or black.White flokati rug, curtains that match bedding, and accessories in black, red, or gold.
2] paint all walls soft white or slightly off-white. Get bedding in lime and aqua, or lime and orange. Match curtains and pillows to those colors. Add rugs in lime, aqua, or white.
3] paint two facing walls or all three non-dedication walls lime/orange/aqua/red [ whichever you pick ]. Buy all black and white bedding, curtains, pillows, rug, and other accessories.

Just consider that your largest pieces are oak and I would pick up the warm tones. So make sure that you choose a warmer tone of the colors that you like. Forget about the boys, they will be long gone. So, if they avoid your room, that will be a good thing. It will keep you out of trouble.

turquoise and hot pink and violet go great with brown. But not all three together, just one by itself with brown and use white accents .
good luck with your room!
