Curtains are much harder to clean. They get dusty easily and you have to throw them in the washer all the time. Blinds are easier cause you can just dust them. Although, curtains look better, blinds are more convenient.

Depends on what type of look the rest of your room has. If it modernist and a bit simple look then blinds can be good. However, I myself am a great fan of curtains. You can have two actually. Back curtains of some light material like chiffon and front curtains so that if you need some diffused sunlight you can have only the back curtains drawn. Curtains also give you more margin for choosing color, style, pattern and material.

It depends, what do you want to acheive with window coverings? Do you want to keep out the light or just cover the window? There are shades, vertical blinds, venetien blinds, curtains, drapes, sheers and valances. Are they being put on the inside or the outside frame? You can use a combination of two or three if you like. What room is the window in?

Curtains.
If you have the money you can be much more creative, and they can block a great deal of light depending on the thickness of the fabric your choose.
Blinds are easily broken. Also they get dirty so quickly, and are hard to clean.
It's easier to get curtains that you can toss in the washing machine.
Blinds look cheap. I should know I have had them for years.
Also, it is said that blinds are dangerous to children somehow. I don't know if that is still true or not, but it's out there.
Hope this helped!

Curtains help keep the room warm or cool and are more effective in light control. A combination is not cost effective and curtains usually cost more. Those are your decisions. Good luck with that.

Curtains.
Be sure you get a lined curtain or drape for energy efficient reasons. Add sheers behind the curtains/drapes to give a more pleasing view to both the exterior and interior views.

For which room? is it a whole house, a living/family room? where is this going. blinds are very becoming. Now you can take your measurements to the store and pick up the blinds without spending an arm and a leg for it.
