We live in a mobile home (trailer house) that was built in 1968. The dimentions are 12X60 with two doors on one side. It already has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Is it possible to add on a room to what is now the back door and since it is indeed a mobile home in a mobile home park(on a rented lot) it cannot be permanent. Is there any way to make it removable if needed, but still viable as a bedroom. How would you go about doing this if it is possible at all? Can you kind of make a lean to maybe? Does anyone have any advice? Thanks a lot.

Our baseboards are 20yrs old and still have the origional stain and we want to paint them white? Two people have told us it is not necessary to sand them before applying the first coat of primer. Is this ok?

Looking for any creative or interesting ideas (or anyone who has experience) of creating storage space under a stairwell (links to photos or website would be great too). Basically I have a simple stair case that is against a wall that goes from the ground up to the top (no twist, right angles etc). Looking to tidy up the area instead of having lots of misc' boxes.

Potential Idea's for things I am looking to store would be:
* Shoes (lots of them)
* Vacuum Cleaner, Brooms, Mop, (ie anything that has a long handle)
* Wine rack
* Ironing board
* Candles

Even if you have words of advice or personal experiences of "what not to do", I'd love to hear from you.

Cheers

If you've ever seen the episode 'Hook up my space!' on That's So Raven, you'll see that a room gets a makeover just for Raven. I've seen houses on TV with bold colours in rooms like this, i was wondering if you knew what this was called.. I was thinking retro but it's not. I want my apartment like that :) .

I am installing a shower door and the instructions state that silicone sealant should be used. My local DIY store only has acrylic. Does that matter?

I have a screened in room off the back of my house. Two of it's walls are the exterior house walls, and the roof of the house extends over it. The concrete floor is sloping slightly for drainage. I am wondering if I need to break up the floor and pour a level one, or if I can leave it as is, or if it's possible to pour new concrete over the old to level it out. Any help?

The plate is white with some blue floral detail ( not anywhere near as much as the usual blue patterns ); a 1/4" blue borderaround the rim with a fancy edging to it; there is a detailed edging 42 from the centre; the plate is 12" in diameter. The blue backstamp has a patterned square with SPODE in the centre.COPELAND above the square and ENGLAND New Stone below. Spodes Gloucester is also printed and there is an impressed mark reading S51.
Any information would be most welcome.

I am planning on redecorating my room, and I wanted a sort of modern look to it. I really don't want to spend too much money, but I guess any price is alright.

I was watching one of those home improvement/makeover shows on TLC the other day and they had redone the floor with a ceramic looking tile that actually had an adhesive back. They said it was actually textured to feel just like a ceramic floor, although it wasn't. Would anyone have any idea where I can find something like this? I have looked all over the internet and have not come up with anything close. Thank you!

The cabinets have no shine or gloss to them. My thought would be to give them a light sanding, prime them with kiltz primer, and paint them a hi gloss or semi gloss white, and spraypaint old hardware nickel colored to save money. let me in on tip thanks

My husband and I are in the process of purchasing new living room furniture. He is currently deployed and I'd love for him to come back to an amazing new design in the room we use most. I'm currently working on all the designs [dining, master, and guest bedrooms] with great success but I cannot seem to find exactly what I want in the living room. Our styles conflict [my own style even conflicts itself at times!] he is into contemporary spaces where as I'm into "livable" spaces. I like some country decor without over doing it but I also really like contemporary decor.

It's just so confusing. I would like to create a room that's functional, easy on the eye, and meets both country, classic, and contemporary styles. I don’t want a room that is just “thrown together.”

Do you have any ideas?

Do you know of any websites that have the purpose to design a room--not just the layout?

Thanks for your advice!!
