I think a pale shade of blue would be perfect for your study and to inspire you to concentrate you could do a border at the top of the wall or in the middle of famous quotations of certain scholars or your favorite quotes- just buy some Paint Markers from wal-mart and write them yourself ! Good Luck!

RE:
What is the best paint color for a study room?
I would like to paint my study room and am not sure what color...I'm looking for a color that would make me want to stay in the room for countless hours so I can focus on my studies.
Thanks

Light blue would be good, as well as white. You don't need a 'hot' color in a study room, like red or orange. Some other light color pastels might be good. Also, there are many many shades or tints of white. Also stay away from dark colors.

Keep away from dark colors. A soft pastel would be effective.
Also, keep in mind the advantages of having proper lighting. There have been many studies on the effect on the psyche of "daylight" bulbs for example. It works for me for alertness, and anti-depressant and enables me to stay focused.

green is the most easily assimilated color for the eye. it is said to induce concentration and creativity and serenity. but you need to use a subdued tone if your going to spend large amounts of time in the room. Go with a greyish sage, very soothing and classy. looks great with chocolate brown trim.

It is said that blues and greens are very soothing and conducive to studying, reflection, and thought. Nothing loud and bright, just really pleasant and easy on the eyes.

Do your ceiling and woodwork white and your walls a pale lemon as these are bright colors and will keep your mood high and you will not get bored with this color.
