I'm just about to move into a lovely rented property - however the bathroom is very small and a bit dark. The suite is white but looking its age and so are the tiles. The walls are white too and newly painted. Any suggestions on brightening up the space without spending too much money as its rented?

I'm just about to move into a rented place that has a dingy though clean bathroom. The suite is old, the room is small and dark. The room is white with white tiles but just needs some cheering up. As its rented I don't want to spend a fortune - any suggestions on how to improve and brighten the 'smallest room'?

a few years ago I put up some metal fencing which had previously been galvanised.I left it for one year to "weather" and the next year i painted it with black hammerite .After every winter the paint flakes off especially on the hollow parts. What can I paint it with to make a permanent job which will last a few years?

I just spilled white paint on my blue carpet ... anyone have any ideas on how to get this completely out? I soaked most of it up but there is still a white circle. I just keep thinking, "There goes my security deposit!" Anyone out there with a REAL answer.

I'm thinking taupe because it matches with so much. Should I go with semi-gloss? I know nothing about painting a room.
I'm also getting new carpeting to match. What would be a good colour combination?

What would be the best way to display what I believe to be an antique fishing net?
It is long and narrow.
It can either be indoors or out (would rather indoor) and I have three "star tacks" I can use.

I currently have four recessed ceiling cans or "hi hats" with GE Reveal R20's (floodlights) in there and while the quality of light is good, it looks like the bulb is sitting a little too deep giving each one a spotlight affect. Should I use physically larger bulbs like an R30, R20's with a higher wattage, or can I adjust the height of the existing lights within the fixture?
