I am helping my friend spruce up her home. We are staining her floors and painting her walls. She informed me she also wants to do her kitchen walls which are paneled. In my experience painted panel doesn't look right. Is there a way to paint them that it will or should I try an convince her not to paint them?

Is feng shwee when somone comes round to your house and messes up your stuff?
I just had to ask as the wife wants to get somone to change the auras and energy flows (and all that hippy crap) of the house,
How do I explain that the sofa and TV and surround sound speakers have to be there so that they work. I dont want to come home and find the TV in the bog ang crysatals sellotaped everywhere and most annoyingly not being able to find anything because it has been moved according to energy flows, as far as I am concerened energy flows out of the 3 pin socket on the wall.
Is it me or is it a load of old toss?
What are your experiances, if any?

I've got laminated pasteboard, like that faux wood panelling, all different kinds as the walls of my bathroom. It's all water proof, I was wondering if it was like greenboard and if I could just tile over the top. Would I have to get a primer so that the tile adhesive has something to stick to? Would the weight of the tiles be too much? Should I just tear it all down and replace it with greenboard?

I was told you can mix the ceiling paint in with the popcorn texture and a little water, spray that over the whole ceiling, and thus avoid having to roll the ceiling later with ceiling paint. Seems to good to be true, just wondering if anyone has tried it.

The original owners of my house decorated one wall in our hallway with these brown plastic textured panels that were glued on with some kind of very sticky glue. It was the ugliest thing imaginable. I pulled them all off. I don't want to replace the sheetrock, but now there is glue left on the sheetrock in the design of the texture...a kind of checkerboard design. Any way to get that off before I can spackle and paint? Someone mentioned using mud first. What is that?

I am remodeling my bathroom and after stripping some ancient wallpaper from drywall that had not beein primed prior to wallpapering, I have many spots in the drywall that have torn into the top paper layer of the drywall. There are also a few spots where not all of the old wallpaper was completely removed and there is some residual adhesive. I have been told that painting over such spots will cause the old paper to bubble and peel away so after mudding over the bad spots and sanding, I should paint with oil based primer.

My question is.. after mudding and sanding the walls should I use latex primer or oil based primer and if I use oil based primer, is it possible to paint over that with interior latex paint?

Just wondering if it is possible to paint a kitchen countertop and if it is, what products would work best and if it would hold up well. Has anybody out there done this? What were your results like? Thanks...=)

My room is so blah, and I can't paint it because next year i get the basement. But for now, i want my room to be cool! I used to have tons of posters, but i didn't like that. I have a bulliten board with pics of my friends, and i have a desk, a book shelf, two closets, a tv, dresser, and bunk bed. oh, and there's a window in my room. anything i could do to those areas or something? i've got a few windchimes and a bamboo plant, also. but basically, i don't really want to spend money!
