I'd like to have a salamander broiler in our kitchen when we remodel. The cost for the actual broiler isn't prohibitive, however if there are a lot of other hidden costs, I'd like to go ahead and nix the idea. We had to pay an electrician to hardwire our stove when we first moved into our house. For the price we paid, I didn't know that we wouldn't get a plug with our stove. Also, We had to pay the gas company to install a gas tank and line to our home. We knew about this cost, but at the end of the day the stove ended up costing about $500 more than we initially thought. So I just wanted to know what I was getting into with wanting a salamander type broiler. Does anyone have one or install "high end" appliances in homes? What other costs are associated with a salamander??? Thanks

I was a sloppy painter, and got paint on the electrical outlets. How can I safely get it off? Should I just replace them?

On the side of my stairs opposite the stair railing, there is a half wall, and some dated wooden bars (with slats) on top of it. We're currently renovating, and in addition to tearing up the old carpet on the stairs, we would like to remove the bars, and paint the ledge on top of the half wall.

However, the top of the half wall is at the same level as one of the steps and it could be unsafe to have an open space above it.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can update that area. Or some suggestions for what can go there besides the wood?

P.S. I've posted some pictures of this in my yahoo 360 album. If you would like a visual reference you can click on my name, then click on the link to my 360 page (for those who don't know).

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

My father has had 3 strokes. It is hard for him to balance himself to get in and out of the tub. I would like to have his bathroom remodeled for him. I want to have the tub taken out and replace with a walk in shower. The toilet doesn't work like it should, but it works. I would like to get that replaced also. They both need rails around them so he can get in and out the shower and on and off the toilet with ease. Can anyone help me in finding assistance with these needs?

I've been scouring the Internet looking for a small square table lamp with a spinning inside that casts pretty designs on the walls as it turns. The only one I could find has butterflies - which is fine, but I was hoping for more selection.

My cabinets are painted white right now, but I really like that new color that I have seen on furniture--like an expresso color. Any suggestions on a paint color and if you did it, how did it turn out?

One accent wall thats maroon.
Three off white walls.
Wooden floor but we have a green area rug.
Matching green armchair.

What color schems could be made to work? I know its a difficult mix.

IF not a color scheme, what themses might fit. (Themes as in, forest, tropical, soccer, etc.)

Thanks!

I mean, I can't afford to buy an actual bookshelf already made or even an ikea one. Any idea how I could build a cheap unit to store my books in the living room?

I want to hang some pictures in frames and eventually some larger artwork. The problem is I have an aversion to making holes in the wall. How can I hang the pictures? Is there a special tape that can hold the weight and also not rip the paint off the wall or tear the wallpaper? Where would I get something like that?

Please don't answer with "I dunno" or "why do you ask?".

I don't know what signifies quality such as fabric, pattern, style, etc.
I need someting large such as 8 X 10.
I am not into busy patterns, so most likely the typcal oriental rugs would not be for me.
