As long as the frame has a solid support piece on the bottom it should work fine. If you use an air bed matress, you know it inflates in just a few minutes, so if this is for guest sleeping, you could leave it deflated until you need it.

I'm not too familiar with the frame, if there is some type of support underneath to hold the mattress with nothing sharp I don't see why not, but if not when the person lays down they will fall through to the floor. Maybe if it's like springs, put an older comforter down on top of the springs to prevent puncturing the mattress.
