Is feng shwee when somone comes round to your house and messes up your stuff?
I just had to ask as the wife wants to get somone to change the auras and energy flows (and all that hippy crap) of the house,
How do I explain that the sofa and TV and surround sound speakers have to be there so that they work. I dont want to come home and find the TV in the bog ang crysatals sellotaped everywhere and most annoyingly not being able to find anything because it has been moved according to energy flows, as far as I am concerened energy flows out of the 3 pin socket on the wall.
Is it me or is it a load of old toss?
What are your experiances, if any?

I think that some of the aspects of Feng-Shui (which means wind-water in Chinese) are interesting and can create a more pleasant environment.

I have one particular example in mind, since I was small I've never been comfortable sleeping with a mirror in my bedroom, so I've always removed or covered them (your thinking what a freak, right?) - well any way, when the mirrors were removed, I could sleep easily, it was years later when I got a Feng-Shui book for Christmas (I'm interested in Chinese culture) that I found out that Feng-Shui also say that you shouldn't have mirrors in your room and that they will disrupt sleep and may cause marriage or relationship problems also.

There are a lot of other Feng-Shui principals which have reasoning behind them - for instance don't have your bedroom next to your toilet and so on.

I think that good Feng-Shui can improve the asthetic quality of your living environment.

Some rules are a little bit too over the top in my opinion - like putting metal in the N.E corner of your house to 'energise' your money earning capability (I just made that one up - but there are some really specific strange and seemingly illogical practices).

At the end of the day, I think you and your wife need to compramise, get involved in what-ever's going on and let who ever's doing the Feng-Shui know your boundaries- not to mess with your 'Chi energy' - (your TV with surround sounds-haha!).

They might suggest moving the bed - which can be really help sleep or suggesting you move a plant or something - if they start sticking crystals to your bog tell them to pack it in!

It's feng shui I think and know people don't mess things up it's all about placing objects in your home in the right position to create good auras and get rid of negitivity. I only have a limited knowledge of this so cant help much but when I changed the postion of the bed I did't have as much neck pain in the mornings and slept better also placing water features in your living room is supposed to be relaxing which it is I have an aquirium.

Auras and Energy flows? Someone is taking your wife for a mug! Either that of she is mentally ill. TV in the bog? If your wife get some minimally brain damaged charlatan to rearrange your house throw her out with the Feng Shui idiot she invited in. It is the aincient oriental art of rearranging the furniture, thats all. It is a load of old toss. Get your wife to see a doctor.

it really depends, someone applying fengshui into their houses need not do major changes, unless it pose a major issue in your life. good fengshui masters often suggest simple remedies that are quite subtle than overhauling the whole house. and you can do the changes, then forget about them, and live life like nothing happened.

though most western people (esp those see it as a fad and don't know anything about it) tend to go crazy over it by having a lot of crystals and flowing water features... too much water in the house, most of the time can harm the people living in them. because water needs the location and direction of flow to be right, or it harms the occupant of the house.

its feng shui, its the eastern way of practising what people in the west would call 'magic'. its a load of bollocks. i'm a christian, but out of sheer curiosity a few years back (although as a christian its against the doctrines to do this) i got the book and tried to follow through on some suggestions about this and that and the next thing, eg. your bed should have its top end towards the north (i think hindu's also hold this belief) so as to lie in lign with the earth's magnetic and positive forces (i've always had my bed in the north) and in the last 2 years i've been blimmin unemployed. they say that the dead is buried with their feet facing the north so as to open up a good pathway for them into the afterlife...(eye rolling).
they also claim that you should arrange elements in your home such as water, earth, metal and wood, in a way as to compliment the other. no wood near metal because metal chops up wood, and will therefore destroy the elements or properties that wood bring...wodeva that is. then, some of them suggest a talisman hung outside your door to ward off evil (this falls nothing short of sheer witchcraft) a lot of the stuff is based on a superstitious belief in bad luck and bad and good energy which you can, according to them, influence by means of a load of hogwash that they want to brainwash you with. they say having fish in numbers of 3 will bring good financial fortune, i've got 7 goldfish (not because of this belief, but because i've almost always had fish) but where's my riches??? i tellya its a load of cobblers, these people need to make money out of your befuddlement, hoaxsters, u might as well send me your money for all this advice i'm giving you. *wink*

feng shui or shwee as you called it, is a matter of combining your energy with those around you to maintain a harmonious living environment. sometimes your furnitures or house decors are at the conflict with your energy...so you need to change them or you need to put some auspicious objects (which are available in many feng shui shops).... but bear in mind, feng shui will always change year by year and you need to change your settings every now and then. like for example, this year you need to sit facing east...maybe in two years time, you will need to sit facing west depending on the flow of energy...that's why the feng shui masters walked around carrying a compass like device !!

Yeah I know what you mean! It's supposed to work though! The thing I hate is getting rid of sentimental things because they are said to stagnate the atmosphere.
As far as I can see, the only thing that is stagnating is my annoyance at being asked to remove everything I hold dear! Where is the positive karma in that?!
