My room is so blah, and I can't paint it because next year i get the basement. But for now, i want my room to be cool! I used to have tons of posters, but i didn't like that. I have a bulliten board with pics of my friends, and i have a desk, a book shelf, two closets, a tv, dresser, and bunk bed. oh, and there's a window in my room. anything i could do to those areas or something? i've got a few windchimes and a bamboo plant, also. but basically, i don't really want to spend money!

Bunk beds, curtain in the lower with sheer bright fabric, and use the top one for setting area put bright pillow up there. Put charms or small stuffed animals on your plant or Christmas lights. Hang your windchimes in your window for window treatment, Use your bookshelves to put more of your favorites pics of your friends. You could turn one of your closets into a little office desk setting. Use fabric brighten your room with it. Have fun.

Check out yard and garage sales for second hand stuff... maybe you can find some cool curtains. I had tie dye themed stuff all through high school and college, and it was easy to find. Try getting a posterboard and then collaging it--that way you can take it with you when you go to the basement room.
Another design tip in general if you don't have much money would involve sticking to certain colors and then placing a few accent/highlight items in the room if you want a 'theme.' Whatever you do, make sure your room includes something about your personal interests.

when i was a teen i would hang up all of my drawings i did, or paintings. you could do that too--be creative! a lot of times i would make really awesome pieces of art with cheap poster paint and a neatly cut square of brown grocery bag paper.
try and put more plants in your room, that always brightens up the space. change your regular curtains out with "new" ones, i.e. ones that someone else in your house isn't using, or hang up a cool looking blanket.
i love windchimes, you should get more of those. you could always start sewing and make your own toss pillows and throw blankets with old clothing and bits of scrap fabric...i always do that, and it never looks trashy.
good luck, have fun, and keep an open mind to let your creativity flow! :-)

if possible can you paint you furniture another color, then see if you could buy a matching pieces of fabric at a craft store maybe hot glue gun (if you have a sewing machine even better) and make some throw pillows or buy a long piece of fabric and drape it over the curtain. dress up the bulletin board with fabric and ribbon find the fabric district in you area or walmart has fabric cheap. your gonna have to spend at least a little bit of money

Don'tforget to leave all the dresser and closet doors open with dirty clothes hanging out of them. Keep it really dark and don'r ever let anyone over the age or 16 in. If anyone does come in make sure you yell at them to get out!

Just throw all your stuff on the floor, never take your dishes down to the sink and leave all your candy wrappers around the room.
Voila it will look just like a teenagers room!!!

basically all you need to do is take out any souvineers youve ever gotten or anything that means something to you and put it on your walls and surfaces. maybe use accessories as decorations when youre not wearing them. i drape scarfs over my armoir and nightstand. make your own frames out of craft supplies and put pictures of you and your friends.
