I have been cleaning this whole week and wondered...

My new father-in-law is visiting tomorrow. His home is **** and span-I don´t know if he cleans it, or hires someone to do it. What do you notice when you visit others? I am washing windows today, and just don´t want to overlook something.
Or, do you not notice how someone else´s home looks, and just enjoy yourself?

He is not staying with us, but at a hotel, but will visit us for meals for a week.

I am about to move into a house that was owned by someone else in my family until he died five years ago. The house has sat untouched since then and now I am moving in. How can I make the place feel like home and become comfortable there?

I just moved into an apartment, and it definitely smells like smoke. I've tried air fresheners, but now it just smells like flowers AND cigarettes. Is there anything that will help me? I hate walking into my apartment and being hit in the face with the smoky smell and I'm paranoid that I'm going out smelling like this, too. Thanks!

My son is employed in the construction field, and working with mechanical oils for lubricating cement blocks. I washed his clothes with Tide Liquid, but I can still smell the oil. Any other laundry detergent or other product I could use to get rid of this smell? (PS, And I know not to dry these clothes in the dryer after laundering as they would still be flammable) Thank you

Hello everyone - I am new here but I have been trying to better the way I keep my house. I work full time and have a 2 year old son and an 11 year old step daughter who is with us frequently. We moved into our home in March and it has continuously gotten worse and worse. My brother who is 28 lives with us and he is fairly lazy when it comes to house cleaning as is my husband. I am not one to speak up a whole lot but I just don't know how to keep up with everything any longer. I get up in the morning, shuffle my son to daycare, go to work and pick my son up and go home, get any dishes done, cook dinner, do the dishes, do a load of laundry, get my son bathed and taken care of with dinner and to bed. Meanwhile, the guys sit on the couch watching TV. The only action I usually get is if I set a basket of laundry in front of them while they are watching TV but then I have to put it away in all the different bedrooms. If anyone has ideas on how to get them off the couch?? Please Help!

I just bought a Tool concert t-shirt for $35 in extra-large. I thought the XL looked good at that moment, but when I took it home to wear it another time it was way too big. Is there any way to shrink it to a Large? It is 100% cotton.

I was wearing fuzzy shirt and a kid with a balloon passed by me and the balloon stuck to my shirt. It was embarrassing because the balloon had a hard time getting off the clothes and kept trying to cling back on like a magnet.

I walked by a hot air balloon and felt like I was being dragged backwards. I looked up and the hot air balloon was starting to pull down towards me. I started running but could only walk like I was up against a hard wind with the static pulling me to the balloon. Eventually the balloon overtook me and stuck me to the side of it. I had to spend all day riding around the hot air balloon travels till the static wore off.

I'm open to any type really, I just want an efficient hoover that I can use to hoover floors and also suck cobwebs from corners with a flexy tube.

I'm considering the water filter vacuum since they don't need bags and I hate the mess of bags + they're costly.

If you could write down:
make of vacuum,
age,
whether you have pets/difficult dirt,
and the pros/cons + whether you'd buy it again.

that'll help me make a descision!
Thank you!!
