thats fine if you have a 30 degree setting (like me) but what about those who don't? i have (and im using it) will it make any difference

I have a dilemma with this. my uniforms have to be washed at 60 degrees to prevent cross infection and contamination.
So, do I save energy or prevent infecting my patients?

I use the 30 degree setting, I believe it will make a difference if all that have a washing machines with the 30 degree setting, use it. There are times when I have to use the hotter setting, but I do try not to. If we all do a little bit, it just may help.

I've always used the cold water wash/rinse cycle. The clothes get clean and you save on heating up all that hot water. I wish more people would do the same. Also if you do not have a full load, wait till you do, or use the low to medium fill, Not the full load fill. That will also save water. Most detergents these days will work find with cold water washes. So there is no need to be using the hot water for washing your clothes.

I've been using 30 degree washes since I first bought my first washing machine nearly 12 years ago.

This is something I do not know about.
How could you wash in 30 degree water ? It would be frozen ! Just cubes of ice ?
I'm confused.

i use a 50 degree wash cause it is the lowest temperature on my washing machine that will wash the clothes effectively cause the other settings are much too short but i am very energy efficient in all other ways like not leaving anything on or on standby, closing all the windows before i turn the heating on, i recycle as much as i can which saves lots of energy and resources, i have my computer on the best power setting...the list is endless!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have switched,but still do a hot wash once a week for towels and whites.There are loads more ways to save energy and they mostly all save you money too.Check them out at the Energy Efficiency sites.

I wash everything except my whites on the cold setting, i hang most of my clothes outside to dry on the line and run my dryer as little as possible, it is nice to know that others are doing their part too way to go people!

it will make a diffrence to the world apparently, as for your wash it will if your clothes are really dirty ( like our's covered in river bank mud ) then i will put it 40, if not then i put it on a quick wash at 30
