I have one of those kenmore washers, the new kind. It says I have to use HE detergent, and Chlorine bleach ONLY. I HATE using chlorine bleach, and I bought a gel bleach that I like better... Will it hurt my washer if I use my gel bleach and not the Chlorine bleach??? Thanks.

I just dyed my hair brown and noticed that I spattered dye all over the wood door in the bathroom. I wiped it with a wet cloth, but it's not budging. Any ideas?

My apartment burned on 1/11/07. A local church gave me a used washer that had been donated to them; however, there was no drier. Since then I have had to rely on a laundry line to dry my clothes. Now that I have realized over the course of these 3 months that my power bill is so much lower, I am considering not even buying a dryer.

I started to research line-drying laundry & apparently in some countries this is mandatory. I then discovered that a friend of mine who lives in Australia has never even owned a dryer (I always just assumed everyone used clothes dryers)

Then it occured to me if 100% of the popluation agreed to Line-Dry thier clothes for just the warmer months of the year... then wouldn't the earth be much better for it? Is this idea perhaps one small way to help prevent Global Warming?

And... I have been pleasantly surprised (having never Line-Dried before) that my clothes require less if any ironing. My linen napkins actually look as if they have been ironed.

My brother is renting a flat and since being there a strong sweet odour has become noticable. There was an elderly man in there and we think he had urinal incontinence.

There is most likely old fibre underlay below the carpet. I am steam cleaning the flat this weekend and am hoping for some ideas, I was thinking along the lines of using cheap white vinegar in hot water as a rinse once I have done the carpet with the steam cleaning detergent.

Cheers and Thanks in advance,
Shona

I have always bought Victoria Secret bras and I always just wash them, but I am sick of them getting wrecked so quickly. SO I want to hand wash the new ones I just bought like the tag says to but how do you hand wash bras? How much soap do you use and how do you make sure you got all the soap rinsed out? It's sounds useless and unsanitary to me...

I just got a new job that requires you to wear nice blouses and dress pants. I had to go out and buy several dress pants and dress shirts. I have a huge problem with me shrinking my shirts and accident. I dont know why they shrink since I wash all of my clothes in cold water, regular cycle-medium soil. I do always dry my clothes in the dryer though, on high heat. (I didnt think drying in the dryer caused shrinking though, I thought it was just wahsing in warm)

Anyway, I read the tags of the items I bought and they all say wash in warm water, tumble dry low. Since they are expensive pieces I do not want to ruin them. I am worried that if I follow the tags directions, washing in warm water, it will shrink. Should I wash it in cold anyway? Will it shrink if I wash in warm as it says?

Also, I have an older washer and dryer, I live in an apt. and it is the apartments compact washer and dryer in our unit....
