I bought a pair of white boardy shorts when I was in the USA last summer. I stupidly put them into a washing machine with red bed sheets, the shorts are now pink. Can anything be done to make them white again?

I feel like I am constantly dusting and cleaning up dog hair! Is there anything I can do to minimize the dust and pet hair? I have one dog, a jack russel, and she is not allowed on furniture anymore. We have hardwood floors. I'm sick of dusting and cleaning up pet hair, but keeping her outside isn't an option. Is there anything I can do?

Is it safe to use a small amount of bleach diluted in water to run through a cycle in my coffee maker? I'd like to thoroughly clean it but I also don't want my coffee to taste like bleach. Does anyone know what ratio to use bleach to water?

We bought a house about two years ago and when we opened up the dishwasher it stunk. The dishwasher is not that old. The more we run it the less it smells, but it never really goes away. Any ideas?

I'm pretty good at getting any type of stains out of clothing, but one thing I can never get out is chocolate ice cream stains. I don't know how many of my daughter's clothes have been stained this way and I've never been able to remove the stains. Just yesterday she dropped chocolate ice cream on her favorite khaki cargo pants. We came right home and I instantly treated the stain, let it sit, then washed them. The stains remained, so I repeated the procedure, still the stains remain. I haven't dried the pants yet because I don't want to set the stain. But what can I use to take out the chocolate ice cream stains? I have tried every kind of laundry pre-treater on the market, including those oxygen powders, none of them work. Does anyone know what I can do?

I buy a big bottle of 'naturally friendly' washing up liquid, and then used it for everything?! Washing dishes, bathroom, kitchen, floor and I even put it in the washing machine to wash the clothes. What I would like to know is, will it ruin the washing machine?

The manual says that when the washer is installed originally to remove the bolts and throw them away. I kept them. Do I have to reinstall them for a 200 mile move?

I live in a student house in Canterbury, Kent, England, where I believe the water is not hard. My housemates and I do not have a tumble dryer and our washing machine is a Candy Aquaviva 1000. We normally dry clothes using an indoor airer. When they dry the clothes are hard, crispy and very stiff.

This is the case for all my housemates despite the fact that we all use different brand detergents. When I wash the same clothes in my parents' house in the Midlands the clothes come out of the wash lovely and soft. I also use 'easy-iron' clothes softener but this does not help.

Could anyone give me advice as to why the clothes come out stiff and crispy and what we can do about it?

Many thanks in advance.

Turn on the shower, and the shower curtain moves inside the shower stall towards the water spray. The faster or more volume of water sprayed means the curtain moves toward the spray faster and closer to the spray. Why?
