You could, less than 1/4 cup of bleach with a full pot of water. We did the other day because it was getting plugged up and the vinegar wasn't cutting it. After you have ran it through, then
run vinegar through, this neutralizes the bleach. Then run 2 or 3 times through with just plain water

Use vinegar, 1 pot full at full strength. When cycle is finished empty half of the vinegar out, and fill pot with water. Run another cycle. Then run 2 cycles of plain water.
If you have a metal, thermal carafe you can clean that with a product called Dip-It.
Bleach will ruin your coffeemaker.

Don't use bleach. Use vinegar. Pour it in and let it set about 15 minutes, then run a couple of cycles of water through to rinse it out.

When I used to work in a restaurant, we used to clean the (glass) coffee pots with a handful of crushed ice, a couple tablespoons of salt and a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice. Just swish the juice/salt/ice concoction around in the coffeepot and you'll see some wonderful results! It's not that abrasive and it's good for everyday use. For the coffeemaker itself, white vinegar is what works best! Make sure that after you clean it, run a pot of water through--it will ensure that your coffee will taste fine and not vinegar-y!

Yes, it is safe as long as you rinse through at least three times. I have used about 1/4 cup of bleach to a full pot of water, and then run it through again with full pots of plain, clean water each time. You can also use about one cup of vinegar to a full pot of water. Naturally, you do not want to mix bleach with anything; so use one or the other.

No no do not use bleach or the finish may come off of the inside. Bleach be able to rust an item in less than 24 hours unless touched by an extreme disease there will be reason to use harsh bleach ! You can use borax and follow their directions.
