I have two trees both are tall but not thick or huge. Just need to cut some limbs that are overreaching to my roof and the neighbors yard.Found an independant landscaper he's wants to charge $500 for trimming the trees and clearing the gutters. Is that a good price others have been telling me it's not.

Thanks

Hi there,
I have just started a veggie garden and will be watering via hose or bucket (due to water restrictions). Just wondering about how long I should water each plant for? I usually put half a bucket of water on each plant is that enough? I'm watering every couple of days at the moment as I've only just put the seedlings in, however I would like to water once a week. If watering once a week would half a bucket of water for each plant be enough? The plants are eggplant, tomato, zucchini etc.

I've got a project coming up and I'm trying to figure out which is better to use. My project will be a desk (for indoor use of course). I don't have a lot of expensive tools so I need a material that will already be a smooth surface (free of spliters) okay for writing. The material doesn't have to be wooden (I thought of plywood and then someone suggested OSB) but I hear alot of MDF being used on HGTV. Please help with anything you can .. thanks

Hi everyone. I had a question. I recently moved into this house and basically there is no landscaping. Therefore, I called out landscaping service and they basically want $2000 to put in grass. So I wanted to see if I could do it myself. Can anyone give me some advice? Basically right now, there is some soft dirt around the yard. Someone at work told me to spread some fertilizer first, rake it around, then put some sod over it, and then water like crazy. Does this sound right? I would appreciate info. Thanks!!!

we're renting an apartment and we haven't had hot water in over a month now. We had our power company (who install and mantain the water heaters in our area) come in and take a look. Everything seemed fine with the hot water heater, it was turned up high enough, and the pipe leading from it was hot. The strange thing is, we get hot water in our shower if we turn on the kitchen tap. But that is the ONLY time we get hot water anywhere in the house. The kitchen tap sporadically will turn hot for 30 seconds or so then goes back to luke warm or cold. The only thing I can see that is odd is that our tap in the kitchen is opposite (it runs somewhat warm when its on the labelled cold side, and vice versa). Our landlord has apparently been in touch with our power company and he claims they just need to change our hot water tank but we've had problems with our landlord before so it may be he's trying to get out of a bigger job then what it really is. Anyone know what the problem may be?

There is a slow drip in my basement coming down from behind the wall directly behind the Bathtub faucet. The faucet fixture is an old sears homart fixture and when I turn the water on it is leaking back into the faceplate of the faucet then behind the wall. I can tell this because the faceplate drips into the tub, and it also leaks out of the shower engager. How do I fix this without taking the tile and wall apart to change out the fixture? The nozzle doesn't really screw in tight. It finishs its turn tight only into an upright position. I think the washer behind it may also be deteriorated. Shouldnt the washer also keep water from leaking behind it? Anyway, any thoughts on the subject would be helpful. Thank you so much.

I live on the ground floor of an apartment building. The foundation is a concrete slab. In summer it's humid, and sometimes the kitchen floor actually gets condensation on it. I figure if that's happening on the kitchen floor, it's probably happening under the carpet too.
Yesterday I came home and my apartment stank so badly of mildew it started to make me feel ill. The apartment has always sort of had the smell, but it was just awful.
I let in as much sunshine as possible, and generally try to air the joint out as much as possible, but now winter is fast approaching, and I can't just air it out.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to #1 get rid of the stink, and #2 approach my landlord regarding this.
From what I can tell they must of had some mold troubles in the past cos the lease has all sorts of rules regarding running the fan after you shower (Unfortunately the fan doesn't suck the air outside, it just rotates it), limiting the number of house plants people have, ect

The tips of the leaves turn brown and then the entire leaf shrivels up and i pick it off. It hasn't flowered since I brought it home from the plant store and all the flowers that were once on it died within the first week. I tried less light, I tried more, I tried less water, I tried more. I re-potted it with miracle grow into a larger pot. It's hardley more that a couple of tiny shriveled leaves and when I bought it, it was tall and exotic looking and nice. I don't know what to do..... the people in my office laugh at my poor little dying plant. : (

I need a 12 foot ladder to get on top of my roof, but I don't want to buy one when I'm only going to use it for like an hour. Do places like Orchard Supply, Ace, Lowes, or Home Depot rent them out for a fee? Does anyone know?
