What will be the best protective coat for my wood dog house? I live in LA where sunray is pretty strong as well as morning dew and stuff. What is your recommendation on wood trestment for the dog house to maintain fresh look for years to come?

Thank you in advance!!!

I like a product by Flood. It's called CWF, which stands for clear wood finish. It maintains the natural color of the wood, but gives it a "wet" appearance. They have CWF-UV, which adds UV protection. It's very easy to apply.

Use water repellents wood finish, it contains oils or waxes designed to penetrating wood to prevent water from soaking into wood. Organisms that discolor or degrade wood need water to survive, and a water-repellent treatment makes it harder for them to grow.
Although it's easy to think of these products as being primarily for decking and siding that won't receive a top coat of paint, applying a water-repellent wood preservative to all sides of a piece of exterior wood before painting provides the best protection against decay and doesn't need to be reapplied until the paint fails.

Use tung oil. Finishes like varnish, paint, and polyurethane are a "coating". Tung oil penetrates and fills the surface wood cells to prevent moisture penetration. It was originally used to waterproof wooden ship hulls.
