There is a slow drip in my basement coming down from behind the wall directly behind the Bathtub faucet. The faucet fixture is an old sears homart fixture and when I turn the water on it is leaking back into the faceplate of the faucet then behind the wall. I can tell this because the faceplate drips into the tub, and it also leaks out of the shower engager. How do I fix this without taking the tile and wall apart to change out the fixture? The nozzle doesn't really screw in tight. It finishs its turn tight only into an upright position. I think the washer behind it may also be deteriorated. Shouldnt the washer also keep water from leaking behind it? Anyway, any thoughts on the subject would be helpful. Thank you so much.

unless theres an access hole you will have to open the wall, try tighting the packing on the valve. remove the handle, then the face plate, to get to the packing nut,
and useing teflon tape on the shower head pipe, to bring it into the right area,

It is best to seek a professional to deal with pluming issues. Call different ones for estimates and compare prices. Pluming is very difficult to fix without the proper tools and knowledge. It could cost you more in the long run if you try to fix it yourself.
