I need to put in a new circuit breaker in my house, from an old fuse box. Does that require us to re-wire our house?

Depends on what you have for wiring. If it's the old black insulated wire, definitely. If it's standard 12-2 wire, in good shape, you may not need to, but you may wany to, as your new entrance panel will allow for more circuits, and reduce the chance of blown breakers.

If I read this right, you can't put a circuit breaker in a fuse box. You don't have to rewire but you must remove the fuse box and install a breaker box. Usually called a service entrance. It will require someone experienced to do it.

Depend on how much power is coming into the home now. Some old homes have 60 amp service. You could have 100 amp. Most new homes have 200 plus amps.Have an electrician look at what you have and get a free estimate.

if your just wanting to convert from fuses to breakers "NO"
if your wanting a bigger service "HALF YES" you need to run new wire to meter base then new wire in to the breaker box from meter of course the wire size will be bigger to ,also if you go to bigger service you need bigger meter base no need to re-wire whole house (UNLESS WIRE IS ALUMINUM
OR NOT GROUNDED)
