Can anyone tell me what kind of hammer is used for riveting and what is used to support the rivet?

Soft metal, (steel copper brass and aluminum),
rivets can be installed with a regular ball peen hammer of the appropriate size.
The rivet is supported with a 'buck` shaped to support
the head of the rivet.
It takes some skill to shape the back of the rivet properly.

A Hammer isn't used for riveting. You use a rivet gun, which is sort of like a pliers that you squeeze. The rivet tool itself actually supports the rivet, in that the rivet is held in place by the tool. You then stick the rivet into the hole and squeeze the handle of the rivet gun (assuming you're using a manual rivet gun and not a pneumatic rivet gun). Once it's squeezed, the rivet expands in the hole. That's the basic cheap and dirty explanation.

OK, I guess you could use a ball peen hammer if you had to. My bad.

I agree with Irv S plus they are solid rivets, no hole in center like with a rivet gun
