We have a moist basement, with only one window.

I want to put an exhaust fan in my basement, to route the standing air out of the house.

Do you think this will help get the musty smell out?

Any other ideas?

In the past I purchased "polished brass" exterior door lock sets and also wall mounted porch lights for my main entrance to the house. I even spent the extra money to hopefully buy a good quality product. Unfortunatly, because of the outside elements. sun, humidity etc. the finish on these items no longer look like brass! A nasty look in fact. Okay...now I am replacing all this and I would like to go to a different look, say brushed nickel or such. Should the brushed nickel hold up to the elements better??

I do live way down South so the humidity and heat is a problem. Any recommendations??

Thanks

I have an old house (built in 1891) and most walls are lathing and plaster. Also interested in finding the cost of installing ceiling fixtures, as the only lighting in bedrooms is from lamps. There IS a lightswitch routed to an outlet for the lamps. Located near Twin Cities, MN.

I just found one of the roach breeding grounds, i cleaned up the area, i just need to know what to do from here? Hopefully now they know I found them that they will leave. I've been trying to keep up with cleaning, but I do tend to get sidetracked sometimes. Please tell me what to do from here? Thank you.

What are some cheap ideas for refinishing a basement? My family and I rent and we can never get in contact with our landlord to get the estimate on how much we can spend, so I have to do something cheap. I am just so tired of not having a room, and it has been almost 3 months. All ideas would be much appreciated!

I am just a crafts person trying to miter a piece of 45 degree molding. I have a miter box but my wrist is to weak to cut the molding. I don't want to invest in a miter saw for the few projects I do. What are my alternatives. Would a jig saw or reciprocating saw work? Thanks.

My 12-year old daughter's name is Rowan Elizabeth and ever since the day she was born, I've wanted to plant a Rowan in our yard. Although I understand now wouldn't be the time to do it, I thought now would be the time to start researching it! :)

First of all, I live in the Northeast (Mass), and was wondering if it would even be feasible? Secondly, I have checked some of the local nurseries around (ages ago though), and no one seemed to no anything really about them.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

It is a five lobed plant, with light visble venation on the top. It also is some form of ivy and i am sure of that. It also has an alternate leave arrangment and likes full sun to partial shade. So can anyone give me some idea which plant this is or where i can find a large database, that includes pictures, that i can find an answer to this.

I am trying to stop a leak in ABS I know I can't use Stop Leak for radiators. I Would think that suchsimilure product existed for ABS plastic. They are new pipes, I a have a few minor leaks, I thought I could cure them from the inside out.

I had a brand new Price-Pfister tub and shower set installed recently. Shortly after installation, it began to drip from the tub spout. The plumbing behind the walls checks out ok. I inspected the cartridge and replaced all of the gaskets and o-rings I could find. After slathering everything with waterproof grease, I put it back together, and the tub spout still leaked.
Here's the funny part though, the leak itself acts like it is timed. After running water into the tub I would shut it off, and nothing would leak. Then 10 seconds later, the tub spout would leak water. After a while, it would trail off and stop. Then another 10 seconds later, the leak would begin again, and it would keep going on and off with that 10 seconds in between leaks.
There is nothing else in my house using water at the time. As far as I know, the pressure from my city water is constant. No other fixtures are behaving like this. What could possibly be causing this?

Should I get it? I have green walls and hardwood floors. What color rug or carpet should I get? My curtains are green and gold also but I'm thinking of switching them to some dark wood colored blinds.

This is for a living room.
