I had a brand new Price-Pfister tub and shower set installed recently. Shortly after installation, it began to drip from the tub spout. The plumbing behind the walls checks out ok. I inspected the cartridge and replaced all of the gaskets and o-rings I could find. After slathering everything with waterproof grease, I put it back together, and the tub spout still leaked.
Here's the funny part though, the leak itself acts like it is timed. After running water into the tub I would shut it off, and nothing would leak. Then 10 seconds later, the tub spout would leak water. After a while, it would trail off and stop. Then another 10 seconds later, the leak would begin again, and it would keep going on and off with that 10 seconds in between leaks.
There is nothing else in my house using water at the time. As far as I know, the pressure from my city water is constant. No other fixtures are behaving like this. What could possibly be causing this?

In the first place you don't "slather everything" with waterproof grease now days, you put it in dry, that could be one of your problems.
Take it apart and clean it all off real good, make sure there's nothing on it and try it again.

Make sure the "O" rings are O.K. in fact, after the grease job, change them.

Why did you put this in four times?
