the candles i buy at wal-mart burn too fast, i heard somewhere that u can soak them in something before you light it and it will be slow burning, is that true?

If you can find it and of course depending on the size of your candle, a metal jacket around the wick, something that would look like a large thimble only with a hole big enough for the wick. The thimble looking apparatus would keep the wax from flowing down the candle, thus burning longer. Seen it many times on church candles.

Put them in the freezer before burning, and when you are done burning it stick it back in the freezer until you are ready to burn again. Bee's wax candles will usually last longer.

Just making sure the wick is short, I have not heard of that soaking them..

Restrict the air supply to the wick.

put it in the fridge over night, the cold wax
will burn slower,
