I'm moving into a new apartment on monday and would like to paint some accent walls. I heard that they would help make my two bedroom one bath feel bigger. Do you know of any good websites with tips or maybe you have some tips already that would be helpful!

I think my leach lines are failing but I am not sure. Toilets have backup in both bathrooms and it seems that there is some ground pooling just downhill from where the septic tank is buried and we have been dying for rain here in Southern California.

Ok, I got a Venus Fly Trap about a month ago, its direcions are...
Grows best in sphagrum moss or peat moss because it holds a lot of water. Likes a lot of light but not full of sun, needs to stay warm, so if it gets chilly keep inside. If the tips turn brown, cut them.
so now I live in VA so its really hot out, ikeep it inside all the time but keep it in a window, the tips turn brown and I think its cuz it gets to much light. Im scared if I keep it outside all the time it will just die b/c of to much sun. I want to help it grow but I cant, should i get a heat light or what should I do?

I am building a table top from weathered, reclaimed boards. The weathered wood has a ribbed feel if run your fingers across it. I want to retain some of that irregularity, but make it softer to the touch and minimize splinters. I have thought of hand sanding with sanding sponges or steel wool, but that will be a lot of work and I am hoping that there is a sanding tool that would get me most of the way there. I can imagine something that looks like a buffer for a car, but is rougher -- alas I can't find anything like that.
Thanks!

I'm interested in just fixing up a "portable" cistern pump consisting of a jet pump that I can carry around. Would it be too much strain to have this run for an hour to water some grass?

We got a new toilet put in about a year ago. Recently I have noticed the water in the bowl fills up to where it should be, but if you say.. go to use it the next morning, the water level in the bowl has gone down enough to notice. There is still water in the bowl, but i'd say 1/4 of it is gone. Does this mean there is a leak somewhere? Is that bad? How can we figure out what is wrong without having to remove the toilet?? The floor isn't wet, and neither is the outside of the bowl or anything. Any advice?

My weed eater won't start. I prime it and it sputters for a minute and then dies. Could it have junk in the line? How do I fix it?

Thanks in advance!

I have a huge backyard in my new house. The previous owners added filler dirt, but it ran off into the neighbors' yards and now I have holes under the fence. Half of the backyard was sodded and the back half was not (where the dirt has run off). Our neighbor has a pond for several days after it rains because my backyard runs off into theirs. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Also, I have NO trees as the developer bulldozed all the natural trees and the previous owners never planted any. I live in Texas and it is very hot in my area during summer/fall.What are some good trees to plant?

Thanks in advance!
Kari

In my house it's like a seen from a Hitchcock movie! There hundreds outside the window bumping into the glass. I must of killed 40 already tonight. I been chasing them around with a vac. in some sort of aerial dogfight! I'm keeping an eye on the fire place!

I would like to replace the water in my plaster pool because I added something that cloulded it permanently. If the pool has a safety cover, is there a problem with filling it gradually with rainwater over the winter? I live in the NW with occasional freezing.

after i bought some oil (i made sure it's the right kind), i put it in my lawn mower. I started my mower and it started to shoot smoke out the side a little bit so i stopped and realized i put in too much oil. I then tipped my mower over and took out a large portion of the oil. I started it up again and it still smoked out the side but eventually it stopped after a couple of seconds(30ish). I then proceeded mowing and after a while it stopped so i checked the oil and there wasn't enough oil. I put in some more oil and then when i started it up again it started to shoot the smoke out the side again. What's goign on?
