Ok, I got a Venus Fly Trap about a month ago, its direcions are...
Grows best in sphagrum moss or peat moss because it holds a lot of water. Likes a lot of light but not full of sun, needs to stay warm, so if it gets chilly keep inside. If the tips turn brown, cut them.
so now I live in VA so its really hot out, ikeep it inside all the time but keep it in a window, the tips turn brown and I think its cuz it gets to much light. Im scared if I keep it outside all the time it will just die b/c of to much sun. I want to help it grow but I cant, should i get a heat light or what should I do?

Actually, VFTs do best out in the sunlight. Go ahead and put it outside in full sun. Make sure it is planted only in peat moss and pertlite if you like to help retain moisture. 50/50 is a good combination for the peat and perlite. You will also want to make sure it is planted in a porous pot like Terra cotta. Next, you will want to get a pan or deep saucer to put under you pot so you can keep it full of water at all time. You will have to check it daily to make sure it does not dry out. Another thing to remember is to never fertilizer your VFT because even the smallest amount of fertilizer will kill it. I'm not sure what zone VA is, but a VFT needs winter in order to do well in the spring. A VFT can survive mild winters as long as there is not a prolonged freeze. Therefore, it is okay to leave your VFT outside for most of the winter.

Oh, when the tips turn brown that is just what they do. They will also appear to die during the winter, but they are only going into hibernation.
